I'm awake at 3am, trying to figure out if my new soundproof window insert is messing with my airflow. It actually felt harder to breathe and my ears felt pressure after it was installed. I thought it might be unrelated at first, but I still feel like the air flow has decreased significantly compared to before, and it's affecting my sleep more than the noise I was trying to block. My apartment is old and there are no vents in the rooms, which might be contributing to this issue. Since removing the window insert seems like a likely option, I'm also curious about any cheap DIY ways to soundproof my single-paned window without it.

Yeah, it sounds like you might be experiencing a little airflow issue. If you don't have vents, and your door's sealed pretty tight because of the carpet, then that can definitely create pressure. Try keeping the door open to see if it helps. If it does, you might want to consider making a small gap at the bottom of the door for better airflow in the future!

Thanks for the tip! I have noticed some gaps under and over the door, but maybe it's not enough. I’ll try the door open thing, but if it doesn’t work, I might have to remove the window insert since it's right next to my workspace and affecting my rest. Do you have any other soundproofing ideas I could try?
