I just bought my first house in Indiana, and we had some huge storms today. My sump pump has been running every 10 seconds, for about 3 seconds each time. It seems like the drain pipe just dumps water in the front yard, which is now really flooded. Is this normal while everything dries up? Shouldn't the water be draining to a different spot instead of making my yard a lake? Here are some pics I took a few weeks ago after some light snow and rain, where you can see how the water usually behaves in that area: https://imgur.com/a/6yclEKM. Also, I'm not sure but I think the drain pipe is just coming from underground and is currently underwater.

Where's your sump pump located? Is it in the basement or under a crawlspace? Mine used to drain into the yard until I dug out a French drain. Yours should be okay for now, but be cautious—if it keeps running a lot, you might want to look into getting a new one to prevent it from getting overworked.
It's in the crawlspace. It’s also really loud; my parents' house had a basement and I don’t recall it being this noisy. The last place I rented didn’t seem to have one since I never heard anything like this.
