Is My TV Mount Safe If Installed Upside Down?

Hey folks! I just moved into a new place and discovered that the previous owner mounted the TV bracket upside down and backward. It seems like the part that should be on the back of the TV is actually screwed into the wall studs, with the wall plate sticking out. They managed to get their TV up there but took the mounting hardware with them when they moved out. I'm wondering, if I can get them to return whatever they used, can this weirdly-mounted setup still be safe to use? Also, if I need to take down the old mount, how tricky is it to install a new one through tile?

Another idea is to figure out the make and model of the mount. They might have adapter kits available, or you could find a solid third-party option. It sounds like they got the TV up there somehow, so it might be worth exploring that route instead of dealing with the tile mess!

Posting pics would definitely help us see what you're dealing with! But honestly, you could probably re-use the same holes for a new mount. Just make sure everything is secure when you reinstall it!

Here’s the image of the current setup: https://imgur.com/a/71Bvfnq. Seems like the holes might be spaced way apart for a standard mount though.

If you're okay with a little extra thickness, you might want to take down the old mount and slap a sheet of plywood over the existing holes in the tile. Then, properly attach the mount to that. It could give you a solid foundation!
