Is My Water Heater Acting Up? Low Hot Water Pressure After Flushing

0
Asked By CreativeCat99 On

I recently tried to flush my gas water heater by following a set procedure, which included turning off both the water and gas supply, draining it, and then refilling the tank. However, I've noticed that while the cold water pressure is fine, the hot water pressure coming from the sink is really low. I'm not sure what went wrong. Has anyone experienced this issue or have tips on what I might have messed up?

It could just be that it takes a little time for things to settle after refilling. When I flushed my electric heater, it took a while before the pressure normalized after refilling.

You might have some sediment stuck in the hot water line going to your sink. Check the flexible line there. Plus, do you know how to check and replace the cartridge? It can trap debris too when you turn your water back on.

Oh wow, I found the problem! I disconnected the hot water line under the sink and let it cycle; a bunch of junk came out. Once I put everything back together, the water pressure was back to normal! So relieved!

Mission accomplished, nice job getting it sorted!

Have you checked your sink aerator? Sometimes sediment can clog that up too. Also, when you were filling the tank, did you leave the kitchen faucet open the entire time? That could blast sediment into your hot water line.
