I recently got a dwarf apple tree as part of a town council fruit tree giveaway in October 2023. Last year, it didn't flower at all, but this year it has blossomed beautifully and is now producing a lot of apples. My main concern is whether the tree is too young for this much fruit, and I want to avoid the possibility of it focusing all its energy on growing apples and then suffering for it. Any advice?

It really depends on how old the tree was when you received it and its overall condition. I've got several dwarf apple trees at different stages, and I can tell you that it's common to see blossoms in their second year. Many people suggest thinning the fruit so it doesn’t stress the tree. Personally, I usually aim for about 10 apples per tree initially. Just ensure you're watering well and giving it some slow-release fertilizer. Your tree should be fine!
