Is Painting a Textured Ceiling a Bad Idea?

I'm planning to transform my center hall colonial into a funky, Gothic maximalist space, and I'm really digging this deep aubergine color called Shadow from Benjamin Moore for the walls. I'm considering painting my textured ceiling the same color, but I wonder if that's seen as offensive or just a bad idea. What do you all think?

I say paint it if you’re feeling bold! Just watch the texture because if it’s old or fragile, it can chip off easily when you paint or even dust it. But hey, if you love the look, don't hold back!

Exactly! Just be aware of the upkeep. I had a house with a tricky texture and it was difficult at times.

Honestly, whether it's offensive or not really depends on personal taste. A purple ceiling could look amazing if you’re into that vibe! Just keep in mind that darker colors can make a room feel more enclosed, so if you’re okay with that, go for it! Just be prepared; if anyone ever wants to change it back, it could be a bit of a hassle.

Totally agree, the darker shades can create a moody feel. Just make sure you’re really into the color because it can be hard to paint over later!
