Is Plant Care Really a Hobby?

I've been a plant enthusiast for years and honestly can't picture my life without them. I love showing off my new leaves, repots, and just how beautiful my plants look, but sometimes I wonder if others find it boring. I take great joy in naming each plant in my home and sharing fun facts about how to care for them. Although I have other hobbies with quicker payoffs, I find myself constantly learning about different plant species and studying them closely. I'm curious if people consider caring for plants a hobby, and whether you've ever gotten friends or family interested simply through your passion for it.

I consider taking care of plants a hobby, especially since I've devoted a ton of time and energy to them. Sure, it can feel more like a way of life at times, but the fulfillment I get from nurturing them is what keeps me going. Plus, I think many people don't realize how soothing it can be to care for plants until they actually try it!

Absolutely, I see plants as a hobby! If you're enjoying the process and learning about them, it definitely counts. As for others getting bored, well, not everyone gets the excitement. I overwhelm my spouse with plant facts too; they listen patiently even if they're not super interested. It's all about the passion you bring to the table!

So true! My partner is supportive of my obsession. Even though they don't care for plants the way I do, they still appreciate my enthusiasm.

Yeah, for me, it's both a hobby and a passion. I love repotting, mixing soil, and just seeing them grow. Plus, it's therapeutic during stressful times at work! Other people might not think much about plants, but once they see how it makes me happy, they tend to understand why I love it so much.

Exactly! It's so rewarding to watch them thrive, and sharing that joy with others helps them appreciate the beauty of plants, even if they don't participate.
