Is Red Soil Good for Growing Potatoes?

Hey everyone! I'm new to gardening, living in Morocco, and I have some red soil in pots where I'm trying to grow veggies. I've done some basic stuff like humidifying and turning the soil, but now it's a bit muddy since I've removed a lot of roots, leaving only some hard-to-remove ones. I've got some sprouted potatoes and I'm wondering if I can just plant them directly in this red soil or if I should try something different. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated since this is my first time gardening anything besides mint and flowers!

Your red soil isn't bad for potatoes! You might want to amend it with some compost or humus, which can help improve the quality. Considering you're in a place known for its valley, the soil should actually be capable of supporting potato growth. Just make sure it has good drainage!

I usually just throw in my veggie scraps for compost, but is there a specific way to mix it in? I also heard that adding some sand is good for aerating the soil. Any tips on that?

Absolutely, go for it! Just like the saying goes, 'Bud the spud from the bright red mud.' Potatoes can thrive in various soil types as long as they have the right conditions. Just keep an eye on drainage, and you should be fine!

And remember, it's all about the care you give them! Good luck on your potato journey!
