I'm considering planting a tree in my front yard to create some privacy, and I'm leaning towards the Scots Pine. However, I've read that it can grow quite tall—up to 30 meters! I also have a second option in mind: the Eucalyptus Azura, though it doesn't seem to reach the height I'd like. I'm looking for an evergreen tree that won't make a mess, stays around 10-12 meters, and won't damage the foundation of my front wall since I plan to plant it about 2 meters away. Am I being unrealistic here? I'd love some advice!

If you're worried about ruining your foundation, I’d steer clear of Scots Pines—they can go through boulders and could mess up your wall over time. For a smaller yard, consider trees like Cherry Plum or Goat Willow, which can grow about 10-12 meters but would be less invasive.
Avoid pines unless you’re looking at dwarf varieties. I’d recommend something like Buxus or Hebe. These lower-growing plants won't shed the mess that pines do and are much easier to manage in a smaller space.
The size of your yard matters a lot here. If it’s a typical-sized front yard, a Scots Pine might not be the best fit since it can grow so tall. Pruning helps, but you have to consider whether it’ll fit the space well.
Scots Pines can be decent for privacy, but they won't completely block the view; they can be a bit 'see-through.' Since you mentioned you’re in Northern Ireland, the Eucalyptus might survive winters there, but be cautious about how cold it gets.

I don’t have several acres, but I thought maybe it could be manageable with some pruning!
