I recently watched a YouTube video about side hustles for stay-at-home moms that suggested selling propagated plants. I have loads of easy-to-propagate plants like pothos, spider plants, snake plants, and Purple Hearts. While I know I won't make a fortune selling them, I'm curious if it's worth my time or if I'll just end up with a bunch of unsold plants.

Selling propagated plants can be tough, especially when it comes to competition. I can get common cuttings for free through a local house plant group. It’s great to have a community like that! If you’re aiming to sell, focus on more desirable varieties, as the common ones are priced pretty low. You'll want your offerings to stand out!
Consider checking out tissue culture as a selling method! It’s a trendy way to propagate plants, and there are awesome resources on YouTube, like 'Plants in Jars.' Just a heads-up about the hormones used in tissue cultures—make sure they're safe, especially if you have kids around. Better safe than sorry!
It really depends on the type of plants you have. If you can get your hands on some less common varieties of pothos, like Njoy or pearls and jade, those can sell pretty well. But standard golden pothos and similar stuff don’t go for much unless they’re sizable. Speaking from experience, some plants move quick on Marketplace, but it’s all about having the right ones!
