Is Selling Seedlings a Good Way to Make Money?

I'm curious if selling seedlings can actually be profitable. Gardening can be quite an expensive hobby, and I'm exploring whether selling seedlings could help fund it. Does anyone have tips on how to get started and the best places to sell?

I thought about this too! I'm planning a plant sale around my neighborhood. In my area, you can sell plants without needing a permit for a couple of garage sales a year—super easy way to start!

Selling seedlings can be profitable, especially if you're offering unique or hard-to-find varieties. While you can find cheaper seedlings at stores, people might pay more for something special. You should assess your space—do you have room to grow a decent number? Think about how you'll market them too, like through local sales or online platforms.

That makes sense! I've seen some odd varieties go for quite a bit. You just have to figure out the right niche!

Starting your own seedlings can save you money compared to buying from stores. Get some bulk seed starting mix, trays, and seeds to get rolling. You could use a silver sharpie for labeling instead of buying tags. Then, sell them as packs of six! Plus, don't forget to post on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist to get the word out.

Great idea! Using social media for promotion sounds like a smart move. I should try that!
