I'm gearing up to shingle my roof this summer, and I'm really not looking forward to hand nailing all those shingles. I've heard a lot about the 20V roofing nailers, especially from Milwaukee, but I'm curious if anyone has experience with DeWalt's version. I have a ton of DeWalt batteries and only a few Milwaukee ones, so I'd prefer to stick with DeWalt if their nailer holds up well. Any thoughts on performance or reliability?

I haven’t tried the DeWalt battery model, but I’ve been using a Bostitch pneumatic nailer and it’s fantastic! Just a little oil in the morning and at lunch, and it keeps going strong. It shoots nails faster than I can keep up with, plus no worries about battery life on a hot roof.
I’ve used the DeWalt roofing nailer, specifically the DCN45RNB, and it worked like a charm! I built a porch and even did shingles with it. It really sped things up, and I also used it for dog ear panels on my fence. Definitely made quick work of both jobs!
If you only need it for a single job or a few odd jobs, the DeWalt nailer is solid. However, if you're thinking of using it professionally, be aware that you might need to replace parts like the firing springs and pin after about a year. I’ve had issues with 60V batteries burning out the feeder piston on mine. I loved how it worked while it lasted, though!
