Hey everyone! I've recently purchased the DeWalt DCST922 20V string trimmer and am curious about the battery options. I've heard mixed opinions about the 8Ah PowerStack battery and wanted to get some firsthand experiences. I've read that pouch cell technology is better for short bursts of power, but if I use the trimmer in a way that's more like an impact driver—short bursts instead of constant use—could I expect better performance? Also, is the trimmer already maxed out with the standard 21700 cells, or could the PowerStack help it perform even better? Appreciate any insights based on your experiences with pouch cell tech!

You're right in that the 8Ah is the 'PowerPACK' with those tabless cells, not the pouch-style 'PowerSTACK'. For your trimmer, it should work really well thanks to the increased amperage output. Plus, the 8Ah rating gives you more run time overall. Just keep in mind, it's a bit pricy, and for a trimmer, a regular battery pack would do the job just fine too.
I can't say for sure if the 20V trimmer will see a huge difference with the high output of the 8Ah, but it definitely won't hurt! The runtime should be great with it. Just a quick heads up though, the 8Ah is actually a 'PowerPACK' with tabless cells instead of the 'PowerSTACK' pouch cells. So while it offers high output, it's really about longer runtime. If you find it on sale, it’s a solid deal for the capacity you get.
Since your trimmer was designed around the 18650 packs, using a high output pack like the 8Ah will definitely give you a slight boost, but it won't be anything dramatic. The PowerPACK with tabless 21700 cells will definitely work smoothly!
For your trimmer, using a heavier battery can actually help balance it out better, especially since it’s front heavy. I personally switch between 6Ah and 5Ah batteries, and I find the extra weight can make a difference!
