Is the DCB240-2 Compact Battery Deal Worth It After My Free Battery?

Hey everyone! I recently grabbed the DCF510 XR Ratchet along with a DCB205 5ah battery from a free deal at Home Depot. The battery's a bit bulky but worth about $73.86. Now, I'm considering returning it to go for a compact battery deal instead. I spotted the DCB240-2, which includes two 2-4ah compact batteries for $99 (meaning I'd be spending about $35 after the refund). Is this a good deal, or should I hold out for the compact power stack deal? I'd prefer not to go over $125 total after getting my refund. Also, I've got four battery chargers, so that's not a concern. Thanks for any advice, DeWalt experts!

Just a heads up, the Home Depot near me has a pretty strict return policy for free items. They require a receipt for returns, and since the battery was a freebie, they might only refund you if you return both items together. Some stores treat it differently, though, so check with your local store!

I really like the flat 4ah batteries! They’re wider than the usual 5ah but thinner, which makes them easier to handle. If you’re willing to gamble a bit on the warranty from DeWalt, JBTools has a great offer on 2 Powerstack 1.7ah batteries for $94 on Amazon. Just remember to check the 'other sellers' option for JBTools.

The Powerstack 1.7 is actually the best option for the 510 in terms of performance. The 4ah batteries are pretty hefty for a ratchet. If you need batteries for other tools as well, getting two for $100 isn't terrible—but it's not the best deal out there.
