Hey folks! I'm a DIY homeowner looking to step up my drilling game. Right now, I've got a DCD794 which has been solid for everyday tasks but struggles a bit with larger hardwood holes and is pretty much useless when it comes to concrete. I'm eyeing the DCD1007, which seems like overkill, but it's on sale for $185 at Home Depot – the same as the DCD800 kit with two smaller batteries, though I already have enough batteries and prefer not to get more 2Ah ones. Also, I heard the DCD805 can't fit a side handle, which is a bummer. Any thoughts on whether I should go for the 1007 or not?

The 1007 has this nifty feature that cuts power when it detects rapid rotation without drilling, which could save your wrist and tool from a nasty twist. I know a few people who've had accidents from that. I think having a smaller drill for everyday stuff and a more powerful one for serious jobs is the best setup. Just make sure the weight and size fit your usual projects!
I'd say go for the 1007! It’s definitely a powerhouse, and having that extra power means you won't need to upgrade again anytime soon. You might keep using your 794 for lighter tasks, which is totally fine, but having the capability for bigger jobs is a huge plus.
I just got the 1007, and I love it! It's heavy-duty, but that’s what makes it great. If you're doing serious drilling, it's worth it. But if you mostly do smaller projects, maybe the DCD805 or 800 would work better for you.
