I just bought a DeWalt 20V Max impact and drill set for $200 Canadian, and since these are my first new tools, I'm curious about whether I should invest in the XR version, which is priced at $350 Canadian. I plan to buy more DeWalt 20V tools in the future, so I'm wondering if the extra cost for the XR version is justified. Has anyone here made a choice between these two?

We really can't give solid advice without knowing what you plan to do with the tools. Are you tackling light renovations or heavier projects?
Both the 20V Max and XR tools share the same battery platform, which is a plus. The XR line usually offers premium features, especially if it has brushless motors. If it were me, I'd go for brushless where possible since the price difference for basic tools is often small for the improved longevity and performance. Also, keep in mind that older models might not perform as well compared to the latest options due to advances in technology. But if you’re just doing DIY projects, the 20V Max should serve you well.

Oh right, I should've clarified! I'm a new homeowner and mostly doing light DIY projects, focusing on some renovations around the house.
