Is the DeWalt DCD706 a Good Choice for a Woman on the Go?

Hey there! I'm a 5'4" woman working through TaskRabbit in London, and I'm considering whether the DeWalt DCD706 drill would be a good fit for me. I've been using a DCD776, but it feels heavy after carrying it around multiple times a week. I'm looking to lighten my kit since I often assemble furniture and sometimes drill holes to secure pieces to the wall. Would the DCD706 be a suitable drill for my needs, or should I look for something else that's lightweight and efficient?

The DCD706 is quite a capable drill for everyday tasks! It's suitable for most assembly jobs, especially if you’re not making big holes. If you're working with fasteners, though, consider getting an impact driver for better efficiency.

I would recommend the DCD701F2 instead—it's lighter at 0.86 kg compared to the DCD706's 1.04 kg, which might be better for your assembly work. If you find yourself needing to drill into tougher materials like brick walls, it's a good idea to stick with something a bit beefier like the 706, but the D701 could be your go-to if you're more focused on lightweight tasks. Just make sure your backpack can handle the weight to avoid straining your knees!

Thanks! I was leaning towards the DCD701, but I sometimes get last-minute jobs that require drilling. I think I’ll stick with the DCD706 for versatility, even if it means a bit more weight.

Just a heads-up, if you’re often working with materials like brick or concrete, the DCD706 should be a solid choice for those types of jobs. It handles drywall and wood well, but drilling into brick can be a workout. You might want to keep your DCD776 as a backup for those tougher tasks!
