Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for my first circular saw here in Oceania, and I've come across the Dewalt DCS577. I'm wondering if this saw is overkill for someone like me, who's just starting out as a hobbyist. Do you think it's worth it for future-proofing, or should I look for something less powerful? Also, I'm left-handed, which might affect my choice. Appreciate any tips you might have!

The DCS577 is definitely powerful but might be a bit much for typical home projects. If you're just starting out, consider looking at models like the DCS570, DCS573, or DCS574. They could be easier to handle and still do a great job. Plus, since you're left-handed, a right-side blade saw might not be the best fit for you. Maybe try them out if you can!

I totally get you! I tried the DCS577 and found that the left-blade orientation felt way better. Using a right-side blade just seemed to throw dust right at me, which was a hassle.
