Is the DeWalt DSC373B Good for Metal Cutting?

Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum and have been using Ridgid power tools for some time now, but I really enjoy my DeWalt planer and saws. I've started working with a CNC plasma table and I'm considering the DeWalt DSC373B to help me cut down metal sheets to fit my smaller 3x4' table. I've previously used a 15A corded Milwaukee metal cutting circular saw and loved it. My cousin swears by the battery-powered DeWalt, and the reviews seem positive. Do you think the DSC373B is a solid choice for cutting metal around 1/4" thick? Also, are there any specific battery recommendations? Is a bigger flexvolt 9Ah necessary? I appreciate any advice you can share!

I've had great success with the DSC373B! You actually don’t really need a huge battery; a 5Ah works perfectly fine. Just remember to feed the material slowly. Some folks try to rush it like they're cutting wood and then complain about the blade wearing down too quickly. I’ve been using mine for a while, and my blade still looks good. There is a newer model, the DCS383, which offers larger cutting capabilities but it's a bit on the pricey side.

Thanks for the advice! I'm relieved to hear it runs fine with a smaller battery. I might look into that new model eventually, but I also need to budget for a battery and charger. By the way, are you using DeWalt blades for your cuts?
