Hey everyone! I'm considering purchasing a 12v impact driver kit, particularly for doing my job as a solar installer. I often work in attics, where I currently use my regular impact driver, but I'm looking for something lighter and easier to manage. My main question is if the M12 impact driver is powerful enough to drive 2 to 3-inch screws into wood, and which battery would be best for that task. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You'll have plenty of power with the M12. I work in technical theatre, and I use it for driving large screws and bolts all day without issues. Just focus on how often you're pushing the tool to its limits. Generally, the M12 range is solid when compared to others. A 6Ah battery lasts long and charges fast too!
Definitely! The M12 should handle that size of screws just fine. I use it for residential remodels and find it great for most daily tasks. Consider grabbing a few 4.0s or 5.0HO batteries, and a USB charger will make your life easier while on the job since you'll hardly ever need a standard charger.
I think you should definitely go for the M12 Impact Driver! I've been using the M12 Fuel model with a 5.0 battery, and it performs exceptionally well. As an industrial maintenance mechanic, I use mine daily, and it's got the power you'll need for your work.
I would recommend trying the M12 Fuel. It's super lightweight, which is a plus for your line of work, and many claim it has all the power you'll need. If you want something even lighter, the M18 compact impact is also worth checking out—they're about the same weight but offer more power!
I agree! Plus, the M18 has a handy clip for your belt, making it a great option if you’re frequently on the move.

Absolutely! Plus, don't forget to pick your favorite battery size for your specific needs, whether that's a 2.5HO for compactness or a bigger one for heavy use.
