I'm a residential electrician and I'm looking for a compact vacuum to help clean up after my work. I was wondering if anyone has tried the M12 version and if it's worth it. Would I end up regretting going with such a small option?

I can't speak to the compact models specifically, but my M18 non-fuel shop vac has been fantastic for quick cleanups. It's great for picking up scraps off the floor or around tight spaces.

Honestly, if you're looking for the simplest solution, a broom and dustpan might work better for some situations. But if you want a vacuum, check out something like this RYOBI hand vacuum! Just a heads up, it might struggle with larger debris like sheathing over an inch.

The M12 and M18 vacuums are essentially similar in size, but I'd recommend going with the M18. It's got a bit more power and versatility if you can handle it.

I use the M12 around my house for fine dust and tight spots. It's super convenient, but keep in mind it tends to go through batteries pretty fast, so having spares is a must.

I've used the M12 and was happy with it, but I ended up giving it away when I switched to the M18 Packout version. The M18 is so much easier to mount and manage, especially for jobs where you need quick access to clean up dust and debris while you work.

You'll definitely be fine with the M12 for cleaning up job sites. It handles the mess pretty well for its size!

If you already have M18 batteries, definitely go with the Packout option. It’s totally worth it!

I highly recommend the M18 2.5-gallon vacuum. It's not the tiniest option, but it's manageable and gets the job done well. I got it for my rewiring project, and it catches dust before it spreads everywhere, making cleanup a breeze at the end of the day.
