Is the M18 Fuel 7 Tool Kit a Good Starter Set for a Newbie?

I'm switching from Bosch tools and I'm considering the M18 Fuel 7 tool kit. Is this combo a good deal right now? I don't really need the flashlight that comes in the kit, so it feels like a bit of unnecessary filler. I'm also wondering if it's worth waiting a couple of weeks for any price drops around Father's Day before making a decision.

I'd probably skip this kit. The batteries they offer are outdated, and the mid torque impact seems a bit underwhelming with all the latest releases. Usually, I recommend going for individual tools when they go on sale, especially if you want to build a solid collection. You can get most jobs done with a good M12 stubby and a high torque impact, which is all you really need!

Overall, it's not a bad kit, but I feel like it could use more batteries. Sometimes it's worth it to grab a single tool that comes with additional batteries instead. The batteries they include seem a bit outdated, so you might be missing out on some better options they usually offer.

I completely agree! I was hoping they would include a pair of the new 8.0 batteries instead, especially at that price point.

You should definitely check out Factory Authorized Outlet on eBay. They're authorized retailers, and right now there's a Memorial Day sale offering 20% off—up to $500. You might find a better deal there compared to Home Depot, plus you can get quality Milwaukee tools.

If you look at each tool individually, this deal is actually pretty reasonable, coming to about $120 per tool. Just check the tool prices separately, and you’ll see it’s difficult to get this value elsewhere. Plus, if you find a better deal closer to Father's Day, you can always get a price adjustment after buying it!
