Hey everyone! I recently got a deal where I could pick a free tool after buying a 5 amp battery, so I went with the M18 non-fuel oscillating tool. Honestly, I'm not impressed at all. I tried using it for a drywall removal job, especially in tight corners, and it was super loud and just slow. I ended up just grabbing my Hackzall and cutting through the plaster like it was nothing. Now I'm considering switching to a circular saw instead. I'd love to hear what you all think about this oscillating tool—is there a specific type of job where it really shines?

While the non-fuel version is a letdown for some tasks, I've found it useful for tight spaces like under cabinets and for flush cuts. But if you’re using it for heavy-duty jobs, your Hackzall is probably the way to go. It’s more suited for demo work, so I can see why you’d prefer it over the non-fuel oscillating tool!
Exactly! For things like cutting drywall or delicate work, the oscillating tool is okay, but for general demo, my Hackzall rocks.
I’ve got the M12 fuel version of that oscillating tool and I love it! It’s much more powerful and way quieter than the non-fuel ones. I use it often for precise cuts and it just blows my mind how efficient it is, especially for a 12V tool. If you can swing it, I'd recommend looking into the M12 Fuel—it really performs well!
Agreed! I've had mine for a couple of years now and it’s never let me down.
Absolutely! I have the same M12 Fuel model and it's proven to be super reliable in all my projects.
I’ve dealt with both versions and honestly, the non-fuel M18 is just too loud and it vibrates like crazy. If you’re looking for performance, you should definitely try the M12 Fuel or even the M18 Fuel version. They really outperform the non-fuel models in handling and power!
Yeah, the M18 non-fuel feels like it's shaking itself apart sometimes. Just doesn't cut it for serious jobs.

I’ve used both tools and they each have their strengths, but for heavy work, I’d always go with the Hackzall.
