Hey everyone! I'm looking for some feedback on the Packout backpacks for school use, since I know they are designed for trades. I'm going into my fourth year of premed and currently have some Packout gear which has held up well. There's a 15-inch version on sale at Home Depot right now for the same price as regular backpacks, so I'm considering it instead of buying another "higher quality" option. I usually carry around 2-3 textbooks, a lab coat, safety gear, a laptop, an iPad, and chargers, which makes my bag weigh about 30 pounds. Regular bags I've used tend to tear after a year, but I trust Milwaukee's durability. I'm curious if anyone has used a Packout for school long-term and what your thoughts are on the pros and cons!

I just picked up the GORUCK M23 bag on discount, and it's been surprisingly great! It’s a bit limited on pockets but feels amazing. I’ve been using it as my main backpack and definitely recommend checking it out for your needs!
Look, since you’re in your last year of premed, think about what your future brand is. Sure, the Packout is durable but it'll be heavy during residency. Plus, how about the image? A doc with a Milwaukee backpack might be a cool statement. Just consider how it might be perceived since you’ll be using it for a while, and people will judge! At the end of the day, pick what feels right for you—just make sure you can handle the weight!
I would probably go for a different backpack because the Packout can be bulky and its color might not be the best for school. I found an Eberlestock bag on clearance for $60 called "Apprentice" that might be a better fit. Just something to think about!
Totally agree! It’s about finding the right balance between practicality and personal style, especially as you transition into your medical career.
