Is the Ryobi RTS10G Table Saw Worth It for Occasional Use?

I'm considering getting a table saw for rare projects, mainly for making basic cuts like ripping and crosscutting 2x6 or 4x4 lumber maybe once every six months. I want to keep costs down since I'm not an avid woodworker and will only use it occasionally. It's important that the saw is compact enough to fit on a shelf in my garage without a stand. I've found a used Ryobi RTS10G for around $100 with all the accessories, but I've heard mixed reviews about its quality. Can anyone share their thoughts on whether this saw would work well for my limited needs? I can handle a few quirks as long as it produces decent and safe cuts. Thanks!

For your needs, the Ryobi should do the job just fine for cutting dimensional lumber. I have a similar Kobalt model, and while it might be marginally better, I can rip 2x lumber easily. Just remember, jobsite saws have features like rack & pinion fences that can really improve accuracy, but if you’re not using it often, the simpler features will suffice. You'll really only see a big difference with more expensive models like cabinet saws. Overall, I'd say go for it!

I can't say much about that specific model, but I've had my fair share of Ryobi tools, and they get a bad rap they probably don’t deserve. I've been using their basic kits—circular saw, drills, etc.—and they've held up just as well as my old Ridgid and DeWalt tools from work. If you’re just starting out and won’t be using it frequently, it might be a solid choice to start with!

All my cordless tools are Ryobi and they work just fine for me!
