I've been experiencing an issue with my mitre saw where the light seems to be offset to the right of the blade. This creates a shadow on the left side, making it difficult to see the actual cutting line. I contacted the shop where I purchased it, but they insist that it's designed this way, and their display model is similar. I'm curious if this is a common problem with this model or if mine might be faulty?

I've seen something like this before. I have both the 361 and 781 models, and neither has an offset light like you're describing. It sounds like there might be a chance your light is damaged or misaligned. You might want to check if there's a way to adjust it or consider having it looked at by a pro.
On my saw, the light is perfectly centered over the blade and projects a clear shadow of the teeth. This helps me to set my cuts more accurately. I think it should definitely be aligned with the blade, too. What model do you have? Mine works great.
