Is the Stanley No.4 Planer Worth It?

Hey everyone, I came across a Stanley No.4 Planer for around 60 euros, and I'm curious if it's a decent tool. I believe these were made between 1945 and 1960. Does anyone have experience with this model?

I own one and love it! They typically range from $110 to $180 when restored, so 60 euros is a bargain. I have a bunch of planes, but the #4 is still a solid choice for various tasks. Just know that some folks prefer larger planes, but this one works great for smaller jobs.

Absolutely! The Stanley No.4 is a classic and a go-to for many woodworkers. It's well-known for its solid metal body and smooth planing capabilities, making it a reliable workhorse in the shop. If you can grab it for 60 euros, that's a pretty good deal!

Yeah, I've seen them priced higher, so that's definitely a steal!

I got mine for about 5 UK pounds when I was in Devon. There are tons available on eBay for even less if you look around! Just saying, you might find a better deal if you're patient.
