My friend is heading out for a two-week trip where she can only take an mp3 player. Is there any way to modify it so she could send messages? We're not experts, so is this even feasible? 🙂

Forget hacking an mp3 player; it's simpler to just embed a tiny phone in something like a discman if you’re really set on that route. Otherwise, just stick to communication through a normal mobile phone. Anything else is going to be way too complicated!
Honestly, it's going to be tough to send messages with just an mp3 player. It's designed solely for music playback. If she has something like a touchscreen iPod that can connect to the internet and run messaging apps like WhatsApp or Telegram, that could work, but otherwise, there's not much you can do with a basic mp3 player.
Not really possible! Unless it’s an Android mp3 player with internet capabilities, you won’t be able to install any messaging apps. A better option would be to buy a cheap prepaid phone; it’d be way easier for her to message someone while she's away. Just make sure it has wifi or data!
