I found a 2962 mid torque driver set at Home Depot that comes with three 5.0 Ah batteries. I'm trying to figure out if this is a good bargain. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

That set was actually $269 a couple of months back during their Deal of the Day. It's likely they'll have it again soon, so it might be worth holding off for a better price.
Honestly, it's not a terrible deal if you're in need of some solid batteries. But keep in mind that the Fuel impact driver often goes on sale for free or really cheap as an add-on. So, I wouldn't stress too much about missing out on this one.
After giving the M12 1/4" impact a spin, I’m not sure why you’d want to deal with the added weight of the M18 version. I'd suggest sticking to your original plan for now. If you look around, you can find it for less than $300, just be patient!
