Is This Chop Saw Worth Restoring or Should I Just Buy a New One?

Hey everyone! My family recently bought a cottage, and we found this chop saw in the shed. I'm curious about how good it really is. Do you think it's worth my time and effort to clean it up, or should I just go ahead and buy a new one? The saw seems to be running fine, but since I'm a bit of a newbie, I'd love to get your take on it!

From what I can see, it's a decent saw as long as you know what you want to use it for. If it's from the 2000s or earlier, those models tend to be built pretty solidly.

Honestly, if it turns on and runs, just give it a shot! You can always tweak it later if you start having issues. Just dive in and see how it performs!

If you give it a little TLC—like changing the blade and aligning it—it might work just fine for you. But definitely don’t use it until you swap out that old blade! If you need more power down the road, then you can think about investing in a new one after you’ve figured out what you really need.

Great advice! I’ll definitely grab a new blade before I try using it.
