Is This Landscaping Quote Reasonable for My Garden in Blackburn?

I just received a quote of £15,780 for 85 square meters of porcelain flags, leveling, new turf, top soil, improved drainage, some sleepers, and steps for my garden. Since I have a large garden that's a bit of a mess due to it being a new build, I'm wondering if this price sounds fair. It feels a bit out of my budget, so I'm looking for advice on how to prioritize the work and whether I should seek additional quotes. Any thoughts?

There are tons of factors in play here, like whether they have access for machinery and how much soil needs to be moved. That alone can raise costs. Just the porcelain flags might set you back over £5k for materials, so that quote could actually be reasonable. Also, it helps to get multiple quotes to compare!

Honestly, I paid a similar amount for a comparable project in the east of England. I got about six quotes, and they were all around the same ballpark, so your quote doesn’t seem too far off. Definitely worth getting a few more estimates!

That quote breaks down to about £186 per square meter, which isn't completely out of line, especially if you're dealing with poor soil from a new build. You usually need good topsoil and leveling before laying tiles, plus drainage and the other elements like steps and sleepers. It sounds like they might have a good handle on what's needed. If it's too much, maybe consider doing the project in phases instead of all at once.

For what it's worth, consider looking into companies like Pro Garden Projects. They did a great job on my yard, transforming it from decking and a sad lawn into raised planters and gravel paths for around £11k. Maybe they'll give you a better idea of what's possible within your budget.
