Is This Shower Tile Installation Quote Reasonable?

I've been working on my 8x8 master bathroom remodel for the past three months, doing everything from gutting the space to plumbing, electrical work, and flooring. The bathroom is nearly complete, except for the shower, where I've used Schluter for waterproofing and the installation is plumb and square. Now, I'm looking to hire someone for the shower tile installation. I got a quote from a contractor today for $4500, but I'm not sure if that's reasonable considering I've spent $3400 overall so far. The contractor claims he can finish the job in one day, but that seems fast for me. What do you all think?

The price isn’t too far from what I've come across lately. With labor rates climbing, you might see quotes in the range of $2500-$3000. Remember, it could take a couple of days to do a proper job when factoring in drying time for everything, so keep that in mind when you’re evaluating this quote.

I feel you, spending $4500 can definitely make you facepalm. Have you thought about why you’re hiring a general contractor instead of someone who specializes specifically in tile? That could impact both the price and the timeline.

Great point! Finding a specialized tile installer might save you some cash and ensure the job gets done right.

That quote seems a bit on the high side! Honestly, I think a shower tile job usually takes at least three days, mainly because of all the curing time for the thinset. Maybe his estimate is optimistic? You might want to get a couple more quotes for comparison.

Yeah, an experienced tile installer would probably be clearer about the time needed. If you're worried about the cost, it might be worth reaching out to a few different pros.
