Is Tung Oil Safe for Cutting Boards?

I recently treated some leftover butcher block with Watco Tung oil, and now I'm considering turning it into cutting boards. Is it safe to use this wood for food preparation, or should I be worried about the oil?

Tung oil works well on cutting boards, just be aware it can take a while to cure—like around 30 days. Patience pays off for safe food prep!

Pure Tung oil is food safe and great for cutting boards, but be cautious with Watco Tung oil—it often contains additives that might not be safe for food prep. Always check for a food-safe label to be sure!

I use Hopes Pure Tung oil, which is 100% food-safe. Just remember to look for that food-safe label because many products called "Tung oil" don't actually meet those standards.

Aw man, so does that mean my plan for a cutting board is off? That's a bummer!
