There's some unused maple flooring up for sale nearby, and the seller is asking $270 for 90 square feet of new, clear maple flooring in lengths of about 11-12 feet. I'm considering using it to make some cutting boards, but I'm unsure if it's a good deal. What do you think this flooring is worth, especially for projects like mine?

Buying that flooring just for cutting boards might not be the best idea. To use it, you’d have to get rid of the tongue and groove and smooth out the relief cuts on the bottom. In my area, I usually buy common soft maple for about $1 per board foot when it’s kiln dried. The retail price for maple runs between $2 to $4 per board foot, so it really depends on where you’re located and the local lumber mills available.
Honestly, I'd pass on it. It likely has a relief cut on the bottom, making it different from regular boards. If the boards are 3/4" thick, that offers around 65 board feet, and with the asking price of $270, that puts you at nearly $5 per board foot! Plus, you’ll need to clean them up just like you would with any other lumber, so it doesn’t seem worth the hassle.
