I'm really struggling with my sump pump. It works fine when it's not connected to the PVC that goes underground—it pumps water out like a champ. But as soon as I connect it to the PVC and turn it on, I either get very little water or nothing at all coming out of the street pipe. I've even tried using a hose to flush the PVC, which eventually allows water to flow, but as soon as the sump pump is connected, it's like nothing happens.
I've already drilled a weep hole into the PVC and tried snaking it, but nothing seems to help. To make matters worse, one of the wires on the sump pump melted because it ran for so long without pumping any water, and now the outlet I used is no good either. I'm having to run an extension cord just to power the pump. The PVC is clear and the sump pump runs great on its own, but connecting them is where I'm hitting a wall.

Also, don’t forget to check if the outlet has sufficient power. If the pump melted a wire, it could be overheating or not getting enough juice to fully function when attached to the pipe. Try a different outlet that you know is working properly, and maybe test the pump with a multimeter to rule out electrical issues.
It sounds like there might be an issue with the vertical height versus the pump's capability. Given that your PVC is 1.5 inches and the configuration includes a 3-foot rise, make sure the Zoeller 1/2 HP pump is rated to handle that lift and any resistance that might be caused by bends or length. You could also consider double-checking the connections to ensure there are no blockages or leaks that might affect the pressure when the pump is engaged.
Good point! Sometimes even a small blockage can lead to big issues. Have you checked the fittings and joints? Even a loose connection might cause a drop in pressure.
