I recently purchased a JBL Charge Essential 2 from eBay to save some cash, but I'm experiencing a crackling sound when I turn the volume up to about 25-50%. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Is it likely a blown driver, or could it be something else? The listing said it was in good condition, so I'm a bit confused here.

If the item wasn't described as broken, you could definitely request a refund through eBay. That said, if you’re confident with tech repairs and want to give it a shot yourself, there are a couple of things to check first. It might be a problem with the speaker driver, or it could be an amp issue causing the crackling. Opening it up will give you a better idea, but just be cautious about voiding any return policy.

Yeah, I totally get not wanting to go through the return hassle. If you’re up for it, just open it up and take a look inside. You might find some loose connections or blown components that you can fix yourself.
