I recently bought a new-in-box DWS780 and it still has the plastic wrap on it. I got it from a couple selling their deceased father's belongings on FB Marketplace. They weren't sure how long he had it, but they guessed around a year. However, I think the date code on the box shows it's from 2013. I paid $300 for it and I'm a bit worried I made a bad purchase. What should I be looking out for?

Don't stress too much! You should expect it to work like a brand new saw. Just because it's a few years old doesn't mean it's not in good shape.
