Hey everyone! I recently picked up a used 1990 Delta Unisaw, model 34-801, for $600, which seems like a fair deal to me considering its condition. The table is flat and solid but could use a bit of sanding, and the 3hp 230v motor runs smoothly. It came with a Unifence, but I noticed it needs some adjustments since I struggled to get it to clamp down consistently. Also, the inner components could really use a good cleaning, and I'll need to replace the tilt control handle. It came with a stock blade guard, splitter, and anti-kickback pawls, but I was originally thinking of getting an ARK Sharkguard. Should I still go for that, or is the stock setup good enough? One more thing: it only has a left extension wing—do you think a cast iron right extension wing is worth it, or should I just make one myself? I'm leaning towards the DIY route since I'll need extra extension anyway. By the way, any good resources for tuning up the saw or Unifence would be really appreciated!

Definitely clean up that Unifence and tune it—it's known to be a super strong and accurate fence. I remember reading about tests where it held up better than the Biesemeyer and others when a sledgehammer swung into it! As for the wing, I'd suggest building one for now and keeping an eye out for a cast iron option later. Many folks even make a router table wing, which could be useful!
