I just finished replacing my roof and swapped out the old red concrete tiles for new natural slate. I also changed the dormers from hanging red tiles to a slate-colored composite cladding. Now, the upper half of my house looks really dark, especially since it's black with white windows. On paper, and even with AI design tools, it looked fantastic, but in reality, I'm having second thoughts. Unfortunately, it's too late to go back. The lower half of the house is still red brick. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm considering whether I should render or stain the bricks to lighten them up and add some contrast. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Give it some time! I bet the darker color feels jarring right now simply because it's a big change from what you had before. Things might settle into a better look after you get used to it. If you want, feel free to share some pictures. You can upload them to Imgur and drop the link here!
A picture would help a lot! It’d give us a better idea of what’s going on. If you can share, that would be great!
Just a heads up, colors can look totally different when you see them in sunlight! Nothing can quite match the actual look of the materials in place compared to what’s on paper or a digital design. It’s always a good idea to check roofing samples in natural light before committing to anything, so you can catch issues like this early on.
