Kicked Out My Flatmate for Pawning My New Impact Wrench: Am I in the Right?

Hey everyone, I recently bought a new DEWALT DCF900 Impact Wrench for $320, ready for some home repairs and car work. However, I came home one day to find it missing. After searching everywhere, my flatmate, Luke, who's been renting a room from me, claimed he hadn't seen it since it arrived. I started to suspect he might have taken it without asking, so I went to a pawn shop nearby to check. Turns out, he pawned my wrench for $150 that morning! I confronted him, and after he continued to deny it—even swearing on his kids—I lost my temper and punched him. Afterward, I retrieved my wrench and kicked him out of my house. Now his girlfriend is saying that the punch was too much and I shouldn't have kicked him out. Do you think I went too far or was I justified?

You're right to be angry, man. It's betrayal on a whole different level when you’re roommates. Kicking him out was the right move; who wants a thief living under their roof? Better safe than sorry!

Honestly, you didn't go far enough! I'd be calling the cops for that kind of betrayal. Stealing from a friend you live with is low, and swearing on his kids? That just adds insult to injury. He crossed a line, and you were justified in your anger!

Definitely kick him out! It's not just about the wrench. If he feels comfortable stealing from you, he might have done it before and just not got caught. Trust is everything when you share a living space.
