Landscaper Accidentally Breaks Car Window – What Should I Do?

I recently had a situation where a landscaper broke my car window while mowing the lawn, and my ring camera has captured the entire incident. The mower admitted to me that something went wrong but later insisted he needs proof. I have the video footage, but I wasn't home at the time. Should I involve the police, or is it common for the landscaper to pay for the damages directly? Additionally, does anyone know the approximate cost to replace a window on a 2018 Toyota Camry?

You might want to file a police report first to have everything documented, especially if the landscaper refuses to take responsibility. Give him a week to make things right. If he doesn't respond, try reaching out to his supervisor or the company he works for. If they don’t help, you could contact his insurance. Alternatively, you can go through your own insurance, and they should cover you while handling reimbursement from his side. As for costs, it varies; side windows typically range from $100 to $400, while windshields can be between $400 and $1,000 depending on the type.

Thanks for clarifying! I’m in the US, and it was the back passenger window that was broken, not the windshield, so that helps focus on the right cost.
