Hey everyone! I just got a DCMWSP650Y2 lawnmower that's been working well for me. However, I've noticed the battery life isn't as great as I hoped. I do have an extra 6ah battery, which helps, but I'm curious about something. Does anyone know if there's a noticeable difference in battery life when mulching compared to using the discharge chute? My grass is pretty thick this year, and it seems like the motor is working harder when mulching. Would going with the discharge chute reduce the strain on the motor? Or am I totally off base here? Thanks for your insights!

From my experience, using the discharge chute definitely puts less stress on the motor than mulching. I haven’t timed it, but I'd guess you could get around 10-15% more runtime with the chute. So, instead of around 60 minutes, you're looking at about 70 minutes—nothing huge, but it makes a difference if you let your grass grow a bit too much!
Absolutely, if your kit came with two 12Ah batteries, adding a 6Ah won't give you too much extra time—maybe an extra 15 minutes. And yeah, shorter grass is easier for the mower to handle compared to long grass, so keep that in mind! If you mow when the grass is dry, it'll help too.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve got a small yard, but I’m considering retiring my old mower for this one. Would you suggest the 650 or the 700 model?
