Locked Out of the Bathroom: Need Help Getting In!

Asked By CuriousCat123 On

So, I'm totally locked out of my bathroom! My brother accidentally pushed the button lock from the outside, and now we can't get in. It's a simple one where you just twist the handle from the inside to unlock it, but he's not inside. I tried using a paperclip but no luck, and I don't have a bobby pin. Any ideas to get it open? Thanks!

Have you thought about using a credit card? If it’s a simple door lock, sometimes you can just slide a junk card between the door and the frame to pop it open. What type of lock is it, though? If there's a hole on the other side of the knob, you might need something stiffer than a paperclip to get it working. Let me know if that helps!

That’s exactly what my mom did last time! She just came home and managed to pop it open with a card. It worked like a charm!

For sure! I’ve done that before. It’s worth a shot!

You could also try using a metal hanger or some stiff wire. Just bend one end into a hook shape and measure the distance to the lock. You can create a handle to help twist the lock from underneath the door. Just make sure to add some string for better leverage if needed!

Sometimes you can use the inner part of a pen if it has that little round hole! It’s a simple trick but can be effective if the lock design allows for it. Good luck getting in!
