Hey fellow gardeners! I'm on the hunt for a flowering tree that will enhance my front yard before I head out tree shopping. I'm aiming for something that's manageable in height, ideally staying under 15-20 feet. I'd love it to showcase pink or purple flowers, bloom continuously from spring through summer, and thrive in the New England climate. I've heard mixed reviews about magnolias and eastern redbuds, so any advice or tree suggestions would be fantastic!

While there might not be a tree that perfectly fits your criteria, consider the weeping cherry. It's got those lovely pink flowers in spring! If you need a longer blooming period, check out hardy hibiscus or rose of Sharon, though some may argue the latter can be quite invasive.
I’ve heard good things about Sweet Gem Magnolias; they bloom pretty consistently from spring to summer. They aren't pink, though. Do you think that would suit New England?
I'm all for the eastern redbud! They're stunning trees. Even after the blooms fade, the leaves and the shape of the tree offer a nice touch. Plus, they give great shade and look lovely during winter too!
Totally agree! The weeping redbud is especially beautiful. I wish I had space for one in my yard!
