Hey everyone! I'm really interested in using high pixel density OLED screens with a Raspberry Pi, but I keep finding that most of the options on Amazon, Adafruit, and Pimoroni have really low pixel density. I came across a Waveshare board that supports HDMI and has a higher pixel density, but it's priced over $300 on Aliexpress, which feels risky. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction for a reliable driver board for OLED phone screens that won't break the bank. Thoughts?

Honestly, it might be a good idea to really check out the driver boards before deciding on a screen. There are tons of different models out there, and not all of them are compatible. You might find it more effective to look into specific boards designed for the screens you're considering. It's a bummer that there's no industry standard, but that's the current reality.
From what I know, MIPI DSI is the most used protocol these days, but unfortunately, manufacturers keep their connectors unique, which complicates things. Even if you know the pin connections, that’s just scratching the surface. Each display has specific power and initialization needs that aren’t typically standardized, so getting a MIPI DSI screen working can be a real hassle without the right documentation.
