I'm doing some mountain bike trail maintenance in my area and currently use an Echo gas-powered string trimmer with .155 thick precut string sections. This trimmer can handle tough jobs, but I'm interested in switching to a battery-operated option. I'm wondering if Milwaukee offers a heavy-duty trimmer that can handle the thick line and if I can switch out the head for precut pieces. Any recommendations?

If you're finding yourself stuck with your gas-powered trimmer, I'd recommend holding onto it for a bit longer. Milwaukee is working on some robust options, but they're not quite there for heavy-duty use with thick line just yet. Keep an eye out for future releases since battery tech is evolving fast!
I’ve mostly used .095 and .080 lines for my trimmer, and Milwaukee’s manual supports those sizes. If you go thicker, it could harm your tool's performance. The thickest line they recommend is .105, but that’s only for their dual battery trimmer. It's really powerful, but it’s not very mobile. Also, Milwaukee doesn’t currently have a model for precut lines—other brands like Ryobi do. It might be worth sticking with your current trimmer for now!

Thanks for the info! Do you think a brush cutter head would be a good alternative for thicker jobs?
