Hey everyone! I'm super frustrated with my current stud finder because it can't distinguish between wood and metal when I drill into my walls. My house seems to have a lot of steel beams and vent conduits, making it a real hassle. I'm looking for a tool that can actually identify whether I'm dealing with wood or metal, rather than just picking up nails in the drywall. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Do you know if your house has both wood and steel studs? This could affect what type of stud finder would work best for you.
Have you considered using a magnetic stud finder or even just a strong magnet? They can sometimes help locate metal behind the drywall. Also, I’ve heard of this WalaBot that connects to your phone, but I’ve never tried it myself, so I can’t vouch for its effectiveness.
I picked up a budget-friendly Dewalt stud finder that detects metal and electrical signals. It’s been pretty reliable for me so far, but I’m still a bit anxious about potentially hitting a PEX line while drilling!
