I'm in search of a string trimmer with a really short shaft for a specific task. I thought a telescopic shaft option would work best, but I can't seem to find any current DeWalt models that offer this feature. Does anyone know if DeWalt had a model in the past that might suit my needs?

You might want to check out the flexible powerhead option, which has a universal attachment. If you can find a short attachment, like the one from Stihl, that could work perfectly with it.
Have you considered DeWalt's folding unit? It might be a good alternative if it fits your needs.
I appreciate the suggestion, but I really need something that stays short while in use. I'm looking for something like a kid-sized trimmer that's still powerful. I did find a shorter Craftsman model, but it doesn't feel very sturdy. Worst case, I might just get a Craftsman adapter for my DeWalt batteries.

I didn't even know about the Stihl short attachment! Just looked it up, and it seems like a great option. Thanks for the tip!
