Looking for Advice on My Solar System Setup

Hey everyone! I'm planning to install a solar system on my house soon since my geothermal heating leads to a hefty power bill of over $400 a month. With tax credits set to expire soon, I'm eager to get this done. Here's what I'm considering:

- 42 panels (REC 420AA-pure-2 Alpha series) for a total output of 17.64 kW.
- 3 arrays of 14 panels each: 28 panels on my south-facing roof and 14 on the west-facing one.
- A hybrid inverter (EG4 18kPV) and an EG4 wallmount indoor battery.
- All panels will be mounted using the Snapnrack top speed system.

My plan is to run on battery during peak load times and discharge it daily after peak hours when electricity costs $0.35 per kWh. I'll be charging the battery overnight from the grid at only $0.07 per kWh.

Overall, I'm looking at just under $20,000 for the entire system, with a tax rebate of about $6,000. I'm hoping to save roughly $250 a month in energy costs. I'm curious if I'm overlooking anything or if my system seems properly sized to meet my needs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like a solid setup! One thing to consider is whether you have rapid shutdown devices installed, since they're usually required for roof installations. Also, I’d suggest thinking about adding another battery or two—your battery is likely to fill up quickly. I've got an EG4 indoor battery myself, and I'm already considering expanding as well.

Does the inverter include rapid shutdown support? I thought that would cover it.
