I'm having a tough time finding manufacturers that can provide prototypes of segmented glass LCD displays without requiring a minimum order of 1,000 units. I want to keep my budget for prototypes in the $1,000 to $2,000 range before I move on to mass production. Does anyone have suggestions for manufacturers where I can get prototypes at a reasonable price?

Alibaba is a solid place to start. Just be sure to look for suppliers that mention lower MOQs for custom LCDs. There are several manufacturers who might be able to accommodate your needs without a huge commitment.
You might want to check out Hackaday; they had an article about custom LCD modules that are surprisingly affordable. It could give you some good leads!
If you're flexible with options, eInk displays can sometimes work as a good alternative for budget access to prototypes. They’re usually pretty efficient for tasks that require constant updates like clocks or simple data displays. Just something to think about!

True, but for simple updates, segmented LCDs are often more power-efficient. It really depends on your specific project needs!
